Buying a heat gun
I'm going to be attempting to make a vacuum formed case, and for melting the plastic I think you need a heat gun. I found this one at homedepot. Its a little bit pricy, but does anyone recommend any other good ones? Thanks-minkster

woudnt work, heatguns are good for melting small stuff but you will need a much larger area and better heat distrobution, an electric gridle thing will work better

Like This? Seems like a good option to me, simple but they seemed to have produced a fairly good product using just an oven.marshallh wrote:For my table, I just build a picture-frame sandwich and bolt the plastic sheet in between. Then I put it in the oven and it sags slightly.

I was thinking of doing this, but then what would be a sufficient temperature to set the oven at?marshallh wrote:For my table, I just build a picture-frame sandwich and bolt the plastic sheet in between. Then I put it in the oven and it sags slightly.
Oh yeah, and I've looked at the studio creations website. In the pictures it looked like the guy was using the heat gun to heat up everything from the oven. I guess this is why I thought you could use one for vacuum forming. My guess is probably using the heat gun to even out the plastic if it was unevenly melted.
