The PSp case conundrum!

Yes it is nice to be able to put your projects INSIDE something isn't it? You know, to hold everything together so it doesn't flop around? Discuss the techniques here!

The PSp case conundrum!

Post by CronoTriggerfan »

I'm going to attempt a PSp, and I wanted to do something like this. I don't exactly know how I'd construct the cradle part yet, though; However, I was also thinking about doing a concept that looked more like this crappy photoshop, done by yours truly:
Image

The only real difference is that mine doesn't apply the cradle. My real problem would be the weight of the portable; what would hold the controller on? I don't wanna screw with bondo, but I don't know if epoxy and hot glue'll be enough. Any ideas?

I thought that it would also be appropriate to tell you that I'm using the actual Playstation battery that attaches to the bottom; it's got the most kick for my budget.

Thanks,

 Yeah, I had that link in my post! The difference would be the cradle (or lack thereof).

Epoxy would hold it, with ease.

I'd get a piece of metal (Aluminum perhaps?) & attach both halves of the controller to that, & use a drill do drill 4 holes in it, & then screw it onto the back the case of the PSone, then cut the ends off the screws & solder them on, & then spraypaint it iPod white...

You can't spray paint any surface iPod white. On some type of lexan.

Well, one thing you can do is re-edit that photo and remove all of that empty whitespace so that it doesn't stretch the site :)

well go about with using a support beam mounted on the bottom to connect the controllers to the board and to grant some rigidity (non stainless or galvanised steel would work, also a thick piece of plastic would be fine)

Then you would prime and paint accordingly, also, do not forget that bondo is your friend but that too much of it will pop off in chunks...

I recommend using a paint that is known for its durability, like the krylon fusion for the plastic and acrylic enamel for the steel (if you use the steel)

why not just do it like atka did his psp, i could barely even tell he bondo'd the controller in, it might even be easier thanmaking a cradle and would also be smaller

I was actually thinking about that at first, but then I found out that the controller board itself is actually hanging out the back of the system due to lack of room! Plus, this would be more original, seeing as it has not been done yet.

I think I'll try it with epoxy and maybe some hot glue as soon as I get the parts. Thanks for the second word, Sky!

actually, I beg to differ. The MPSOneP is/was basically the same thing. You can't buy them anymore, since I ran out of components and decided to stop making them. The new, improved Mark 2 is a part of the new totokan.com store.
Shhh! I'm not officially back yet.

Really......hmmm. Okay, I'll try this! Although I think I wanna try something a bit different. I'm not a huge fan of the current position of the analog sticks, so I was wondering if you could shove them in the space right below the directional pad and the D-pad using G-Force's awesome NES button mod of doom!!!!!!!! Or is the analog stick pot simply too large to fit there? :? Hopefully I can cram! Can anyone test/verify this?
