Styrene Thickness Question

Post by XFactor »

I have hard on these forums that .080" styrene is the way to go. However, I have seen plentiful amounts of .060" sheets for a substantially lower price on ebay. I need to know if .080 is required to make a hard case or will .060" be enough to ensure hardness as well.

My main test of this is that if one were to take the case and bend it in opposite directions on both ends, would the case twist. Or, if i dropped it on the ground, would either show any differentiation in damage if at all (i hope i am not that clumsy with $250 in my hand ).

2) Slap him again.
3) Go buy him a Creative Zen or something.

i get a pretty sturdy case with .080 i have never tried .060 it would probably work and your case shouldnt be to thin.

EDIT: i have used thicker plastic though and it didnt make my case much thicker so it would probably be fine

Where can you get .080 thick styrene thats in a 12x24 sheet? My forming space is 10x15 but its hard to find any sheets that are that thickness that are a low price.
