Yes it is nice to be able to put your projects INSIDE something isn't it? You know, to hold everything together so it doesn't flop around? Discuss the techniques here!

Case suggestions

Post by minkster »

Well I want to make a case that is vacuum formed, and I tried making a plaster cast, mold, and the whole to do..and unfortunately I failed miserably five times. (The Plaster of Paris cast kept breaking off on a side) Well, with that aside...I heard there are other alternatives. For instance, Marshallh used wood to vacuum form to. I think triton used a sponge and slabbed plaster over it to make his mold. Are there any other alternatives to the vacuum forming process? I want to try the method Marshallh used because you don't have to worry about sanding on the top and bottom, just mostly the sides so the whole mold itself would be even. What tools would be needed for such a task to make the job easy and convienient? Thanks-minkster

if you have a saber saw you should try marshals method. just cut out a basic shape of a couple peices of wood then glue them together and sand. i'm not sure if marshall did it this exact way but i want to make my next mold like this and see how it turns out :)
