Frakenstein- In general it looks too messy for my tastes, but there are some good Frankencases out there.

Carving- Looks decent, however this would probably be, by far, the most time-consuming method unless you're Norm Abrham or something.

CNC- Looks very professional, and parts made from see-through materials are crystal-clear. However this requires expensive machinery to accomplish.

Vacuum Forming- Looks good, decent price. However if you're doing one case and that's it, it's a bit overkill. (I used to hae an old toy which made Matchbox car sized car bodies out of thin plastic using a vacuum-form technique, but I can't remember what it's called.

)

Plastic and metal clips technique- The next best thing, in my opinion, to CNC routing. The plastic isn't the most expensive (but it is a bugger to find sometimes.) and the only tools you need are a knife of some sort and a file. (I'm making my case this way, since I have plastic and a ton of aluminum lying around.)

im going to use a combination of the metal clips and frackenstiening, so its going to have a romvable bottom.... or something like that.

ive used vac forming and i like it if you do it right it looks real nice(dkap )but if you do it ok the results still turn out pretty good looking

I used varnished wood. It came out awesome. I even put half a controller on the top, and covered that with really thin wood. it works awesome. Now only get my playstation to work...

for my 1st project i'm using frankencase because it's easy to start with. for my next one(s) i'll either vacuum or cut peices of plastic

Ahh yes its an excellent process in which you create portable cases with bondo, and sanding. It turns out quite well if you are patient.

like puting a buch of bondo around a mold and sanding it smoothe

The complete process is a secret, or until I finish the next project that I am working on. Stay tuned, I think this will be a pretty good, and cheap alternative to making cases.

No offence, but to me MOST frankensteining looks pretty ugly.

I don't know what you mean by carving. Using a router and a routing board in the right hands looks pretty nifty.

i think he means wood. most frankencases i've seen look fine. i know there's only one page in the case forum so this isn't tooooo dead, but for future reference, please avoid bringing up old threads without a good reason
