My D-PAD won't work HELP!

Post by atkafighter »

Hi,
I'm | | this close to finishing my portable. I wired up my d-pad and it worked so I hotglued it in place. Now when I hook everything up and run the psone the d-pad doesn't do anything. I tried to use the analog button to switch modes, but nothing works. In case you wanted to know I soldered to the black pads on the controller board (after scraping away the black and green stuff). It is grounded and the connections are solid.
If you have any ideas please post them.

How did you wire your tact switches (assuming that's what you used)? The wires from the board should go to leads diagonal from each other, the others should stay unconnected.

Yes I did wire diagonally and left the extra ones not connected. There really isn't a reason for it to have stopped working. The other buttons do still work sometimes the down button works but its not often. How could I test if the original dpad works?
Anyways
Would it be better to solder to the chip? Isnt that the way Ben does his controllers? I might ask him for a pinout.

If you're using the board from a PSone controller (one that was actually branded PSone), you should be able to just ditch the board with all of the buttons and wire the controls directly to the slot where its ribbon cable inserted. If not, you won't get any advice from Ben because that's the only one he uses anyway.
