OK, I didnt have time to read all of that, but here is something to try. There are fuses on the AV lines, try jumping those with wire and/or solder.

new york cheech,

re you using an Anti static wrist strap?

I tried soldering the cart slot on my last N64 and screwed it up. The light still comes on, but no video. I'm going to use *o*'s method next time,but like him, i think my header pins will be too big.

Also, you should saw down the Ext slot to an equal level. that's the best way IMO.

Also, don't solder to the holes where the cart slot was, solder to the adjacent pins on the Ext slot.

Tinning is the nest way to solder if you haven't done it before btw.

If you take the extention slot off, the cart slot holes are useless, because they don't connect to anything.
