Digi-key

Post by schmellyfart »

I'm ordering LEDs on Digi-key and I'm confused. It says the standard package is 100 LEDs. So if I just put down 1 for the quantity, will I be getting 100 LEDs or just 1 LED?

I have seen this too. where you are supposed to type in quantity of LEDs, just type in how many you want and forget about standard package stuff.

you cant give digikey links cause they expire and stuff. just say what part number it is.

it is my understanding that it wont let you put in a number that is not a multiple of the smallest standard package or something like that. like if the minimum amount is 10, you cant buy 7 or 13 because they are already presealed in packages of 10

EDIT: I didn't see timmeh's post.

I just want to know from someone that has ordered from them before.

Yeah, I ordered T1 size white LEDs for the ps1 screen LED mod for use in my N Gadget Nesp. The thing still doesn't work.
The leds came in the mail faster than any service I ever have known. (1-2 days)

EDIT it was actually mouser with the fast shipping, but digikey was fast too.

how much did you pay?

if you bought from digikey and are getting ~100leds you should be ready to pay a lot

no, I got tact switches from digikey that was in the same way like the LEDs. I got the leds from mouser. I didn't relize this in my last post, but they are cheap from my observation and the standard package should be left alone I think. just look at the total price and use common sense to figure out if you're getting a hundred

the part of the page you need to look at is near the top, in the first table, where it says

Code: Select all

Price Break Unit price Price
1 2.40000 2.40
10 2.22000 22.20
100 1.99200 199.20
the first column is what i was talking about before, the different sizes of packages you can get. the second column is the price per ONE led at that volume, and the third column is just the first one multiplied by the second one.

if you order 10 leds, that is acceptable, and it will cost you $22.20, plus any other fees. (there is a $6 handling fee if your order is less than $25). if you want to order 6, thats ok too and will cost 6 x 2.4 = $14.40

i have ordered some 1000MCD leds form digikey, possibly these exact ones, and they were not quite bright enough to do an led mod with only 4 of them. 6 was ok though, though still a bit uneven. then i fried them and im still planning to get better ones....

however, i think you might find brighter leds for a lot cheaper on ebay.
