My poor case... but from pricy death comes low-budget life!

Yes it is nice to be able to put your projects INSIDE something isn't it? You know, to hold everything together so it doesn't flop around? Discuss the techniques here!

My poor case... but from pricy death comes low-budget life!

Post by CronoTriggerfan »

As some of you know, my SNESp wasn't going too well... now it's going even worse. About the only good thing that happened to my project, the awesome case, went bad when I dropped it down the stairs today. Bye bye, case! Due to budget restraints, I can't duplicate my old case, so now I am going to make a tackle box case. I get the basics of it, but are there any secrets/tips i could use? Also, what kind of spray paint sticks to standard tackle box plastic?

For paint, you want to get Krylon Fusion. It's meant for plastics, and can be found at your local Wal*Mart, most likely. Some people say you should sand the plastic a little bit first, with sand paper, to make the surface a bit rougher so the paint sticks better.

no i would not reccomend any sanding unless you use extremely fine paper

but it works great if you wipe it down with somwe paint thinner or widex first. thats what i did to my psone and the paint is great

after i finish bondo i will go over it with rough sandpaper (150-200 grit) to get the right shape and stuff then do finer sanding with like 400 grit paper then mebe buff it and then clean it with denatured alcahol or rubbing alcahol or something to get a nice paintable surface, primer it, make sure the primer coat is good (i have parents that used to do car bodywork, they can paint) then finally, i plan to have a beautifully painted case by the time i am done

Okay, new problem. In a tackle box, there are, well, boxes to hold tackle. I took out all the removeable walls, but I am left with 3 big main inner walls that need to be gone. How will I get rid of them? I tried:
1. Cutting (WAAY too hard) at least with xacto, scissors, and tin snips.
2. Melting most successful so far, but im afraid it will release toxins or melt through the outside of the case.
3. Pulling off w/ plyers NO WAY! the plastic walls are infused to the case.
So what do I do?

1. Go to dollar store and buy a soldering iron
2. Go outside
3. Heat it up
4. Cut wuth the iron's heat, clean up with a file
