Handbuilt.. CNC... whatever.

Yes it is nice to be able to put your projects INSIDE something isn't it? You know, to hold everything together so it doesn't flop around? Discuss the techniques here!

This may sound stupid, but I have zero experience with the subject.
There's no reason why I couldn't download a "Handbuilt" template of Ben's and make it with a laser engraver, right?

It's probably fine. You may need to edit it a bit though.

good idea. do you have a laser engraver? if so you can definitely do that. if not, it may cost you a bit to get it done unless you know someone.

What I'm doing is building my own CNC router machine. I got plans on Ebay for $28. And the machine will cost about $350 for everything completed. This is the cheapest way I found to avoid the old Xacto knife.
