.60 Styrene?

Post by PapaLazarous »

Has anyone tried to make case out .60 styrene, and if so how well did it work?

I know a lot of threads recommend .80 but I'm having a really hard time finding any of that for sale in th UK.

Anyway thanks in advance

so... is that 0.6cm?
0.3175cm should be fine, 0.6 sounds a bit thick.

I think he means .060 (inches), in which case I wouldn't recommend it for the main part of the case unless you double it up or reinforce it somehow.

no combining will not work. either search some more or just use .060 its not like its set in stone that you heve to have the exact thickness

Dont use it, .060 is to thin. Only use .080 and up... When you vacuum form your case and it pulls to platic over it it will pull it to thin in some places. This will make your case paper thin around corners and toward the back. Most of you have seen my cases so you know I done a few. And if you cant find any try ording from american plactics thats were I get mine...

I know you're not asking me Turbo, but just thought I'd answer:

Say this is your vaccuum former:

Code: Select all

| |
|==========| <- PLASTIC
| |
|__________|

This is how drooped I let it get before I form:

Code: Select all

| |
|=_________=| <- PLASTIC
| |
|___________|
I just wait for an inch or two melt.
