LED mod image/color quality?

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

LED mod image/color quality?

Post by Triton »

here goes, my friend jacob(who is fixing my PS1 screen) thinks that with the led mod you will have lower visibility and color quality with the led mod so i wanted everyones opinion on this. what do you think? is it better, brighter, and clearer. or dimmer, and worse?
you tell me, in my opinoin it would be better

You mean short out that resistor on the board?

if you do it right, the difference is negligible.

I'll be honest with you - I would have never guessed that.

when you do the led mod the brightness does go down, but if you do ben's "Jump the thingy mod", as gannon so adequately put it, the brightness goes way up. the only bad part about it is that the contrast does go down a little but it isn't too bad.
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

I'd love to see an image comparison of the two...I'll be performing the mod myself and taking pics once I get my second PsOne screen..

^ Unless you solder a switch to both sides of the resistor, then you can turn the mod on and off :)

if you short a resistor it shouldn't fry it, you are just creating a parallel circuit and decreasing the overall resistence

so even if it does fry the resistor i could just replace the resistor. unless its like some surface mount resistor. however i'm willing to bet that if i just remove the jumper it will go back to normal, i just wanted a second opinion
