I'd like to run my original nes off of batteries. Anyone here wanna kick down some information on what I need to do? Can I do it with an array of AA's? Is some sort of RC car batter better? Any info appreciated.

Battery power for a NES.

if all you wanna do is run it off batteries, and not mod it at all, all you need is anything over 7.5 volts. I hear you can run it for about an hour on a 9 volt.

You can also use the set up here http://www.benheck.com/Games/Project%2042%20Page.htm look at Ben's first NES and he uses an 11v battery.
All you have to do to make that happen is connect the battery to the 7808 power regulator thats inside the system. Connect to the pins labled +9 and -9

Thanks for the quick replies!
Is there some way to do it without opening the nes up? Can I run the batteries into the connecter on the back of the unit. Cannibalizing the wall wart power adapter for it's connecter is not out of the question at all. Is there an advantage to wiring the batteries directly to the circut board?
Second question: If its true that you can run it for an hour on a 9 volt, wouldn't it be possibe to run it for 2 hours on 2 nine volts wired up in serial (or parallel, I don't know much about electronics)??
thanks again.

Of course you could wire it with the wall wart connector. cut it, determine which wire goes where on the connector, and connect it to a 9volt or 2. you would need to wire them in parallel, which connects the positives and negatives together.

Negitive is usually the wire connected to metal ring around the plug, postive is the little male part of the plug. This is what usually is I dont know if Nintendo followed this.
