Yes you can cut a controller in half, just make sure you connect every trace you cut.

make sure you scrape a little off of the traces so that you can solder to them
and flux helps too
when life gives you lemons make flux

When you cut it either use a dremel tool with a cut-off wheel or use an exacto knife and cut it on the side with the traces (this will prevent them peeling that could occur if you cut the non trace side first.) You should be able to heavily score it with a knife and then get a good clean snap when you bend it.

yeah flux always helps to, makes soldering on those spots a lot easier. And Turbo Tax when did you make an NESp(unless there is a thread, and there most likely is. in the NES section I haven't gotten there yet).
SNESp - 100%
Protable X - 15% - I need money :(

I've found that scraping it off with a small flathead screwdriver works MUCH, MUCH better than a knife or dremel. The trick is getting the screwdriver to "break through" the green coating. Once you get that, jsut chip away. Easier, and the solder sticks better than witha knife, and you don't run the risk if damaging the trace as you would with a dremel.
