Gamecube battery?

Hello,
I've been trying to decide what sort of options I've got for batteries. There are some dirt cheap gamecube batteries on Ebay... they'll run a gamecube and screen for 1.5 hours, so I'd expect they'd run my portable N64 for more. Anything I should know before I buy one? They'll go for about $15 after shipping.

I have one of those battery sets (someone on here told me to get one for an n64) and I dont think it works properly, i think its made by interact.. I've tried it twice.. the first time it screwed up but i figured it had to be drained before being charged.. so I wasnt surprised that my GC turned off after only 3 minutes.. then I let it charge for about a week.. and I didn't even get to the char select screen in Mario Kart: Double Dash before it shut down again.. so now it seems ive got a $20 extra LED for my GC and nothing else..

sounds like a NiCd. if it is, you don't want it. if it's NiMh then it's probably just your battery that got messed up

Its a spuare set of ni-mhs.. something like 12v 2400mahs

Try cycling your batteries (charging and discharging, repeatedly). I did this with an old laptop battery, before it had about 20mins charge, then 2 hours after I was done! This doesn't work for lead acid batteries(only discharge them 40%, except for deep-cycles.)

Hmm... given that I've had some trouble getting that 3.3v, I think I may take the easy road and use two batteries. The twelve volt one isn't t he issue, and I can use something less. But I'm thinking I'll have a run at one of those 3.6v Black and Decker batteries. 3hr charge time, NiMH, sounds tasty to me. Dunno what the mAh is for them, but I figure it'll be good enough to start with. You can also get them rather cheapsie.
