Power Question

Post by jtaylor0913 »

When you do the battery for the n64p do you remove the power port on the board? Also do you need a converter or can you go without one.

Well, you can go without a DC-DC convertor and use a regulator, or you can go unregulated and input 3.6v into the 3.3v spot. The 12v spot can handle 7v-35v or so, so feel free to use around 8v unregulated for that. It doesn't use much power anyway.

you need anything that can get around 3.3v and it doesn't matter if you remove the power plug

The 3.3V spot can take 3.3V to 4V, and the 12V spot should be able to run on 6V to something like 35V. just so ya know. The 3.3V line might even be able to take 5V but I have never tested that.

You don't neccessarily need to use a regulator. 3 AA's can power the 3.3V line, or a car DC-DC converter would work too.

Look, that one will work just fine, though when you remove the power port, you need to trace where the power goes.

I have decided to leave the port. Do i really need all of the switches in the diagram?

the diagram in the sticky? you only need the 2 separate switches for the N64 and screen if you're gonna have AV in/out

No, you don't need two switches, those are just put there to be used to switch off the Power supply from the GC screen and N64, witch allows each to turn off seperatley.
