PSP circuit

Post by s3ptic »

Hi I am currently working on turning my original playstation into a portable, and have just designed this circuit to power the playstation as well as a portable T.V. http://homelland.4t.com/PSX%20circut.JPG I was just wondering if some of those with far more electrical exsperience could tell me if I made any mistakes. I just ordered these http://www.batteryspace.com/index.asp?P ... ProdID=245 batteries to power the psp.

P.S. Just ignore the T.V. power part

If you do a search you'll find that Gannon has a pinout and voltage info on the Playstation. It may not be as easy as if you used a PSOne.

Good luck anyways

Ok thanks Sparkfist I was just using the voltages from http://www.classicgaming.com/vcsp/board ... ck+Central. Also does the image show up? If not just try coping the url into the address bar and going to the site. If that still doesn't work try http://homelland.4t.com

ok thanks Sparkfist for the info I just looked up Gannons pin outs http://benheck.com/ipw-web/bulletin/bb/ ... oltage+pin, and I need 3.5 volts and 8 volts. So this brings up a delema. Currently my plan was to out put 7.2 volts, from 6 AAs, but now that seems like too little voltage for the 8 volts required. So should I redesign the circuit, or do you think 7.2 is enough?

Well I dont know if you can run the PS(X) on just 7.2 volts but you have to also remember that it requires 3.5 volts too. So if your up to it you can get a perf board and build a custom power circuit. Have what ever power input you want and use either a power regulator (7808=8 volts, 7805=5 to 3 volts) or for more money you can buy dc-dc converters and have the power source run through two of these to have 8 volts and 3.5 volts.

The choice of dc-dc converters or power regulatos is up to you but just about everyone will agree that thhe converters are more efficent.

Good luck

ok lol sorry I forgot about this thread, anyways I completed the circut for the psp(with a lot of help from my dad) and now the PSX runs on batterys. I used two LM117 variable regulators to take the 9.6 volts from the battery, and convert them into 8, and 3 volts respectively. The circut is very simple, and pretty small. I don't know how long it will run the playstation at the moment, becasue I just got the recharables, and must now charge them. I also just got a casio portable television to hook the Playstation to. The casio requiered 3 AA batteries, so I just hooked it up to three batteries in the powersupply for the Playstation, and now the batteries will power the T.V. and Playstation at the same time. Since the T.V. only accepts one mini-jak for A/V I had to buy a two RCA to one Mini-Jack conecter. While it works, the sound sounds terriable. Does anyone know a way around this? I was going to open the T.V. but it requires a mini-screwdriver which I dont have. Anyways sorry for the long post oh and the new curcuit is posted at the same place as the last Homelland.4t.com
