can i hack the PS2 controller?

Post by monster »

the way my room is set up my TV is at the foot of my bed, with my PS2 next to it, but the PS2 cable is too short! i have to keep the controller about 'nads level to play while laying down in bed (usually with snack foods in easy reach). i only need it to be two, maybe two and a half feet longer and all will be well in the kingdom of monster. i've seen many people hack a PS2 controller so it has a usb plug instead of a playstation, instead could i just cut the plugs off a usb cable and open up the controller and PS2 plug housing and replace the wire?

i know ethernet needs to be arranged a certain way to operate properly, does USB? or can i just use the continuity check on my multimeter to make sure the wires are connected right?

Why not just splice another 2 or 3 feet of wire into the middle of the existing controller cable?

Or what about cable extenders? (Old PSX ones will work)

it's that simple? i don't need to be careful about which wire i use (except for it to go to the right pin on the connector)
