Ya a lot of people that have made the N64p have relocated the cartrage port. Gannon modded his so the cart was paralell to the board. Someone else (cant remember) took a ribbion cable and did that so the port can be mover around freely.

Good luck.

Actually, moose jr. made it parallel and I use the ribbon cable. :)
Any ways, I suggest bending the pins on the n64 cartridge connector flat against the bottom, then soldering wires to it. Then when you solder the wires to the main board, solder them to the points directly above and bellow the holes. That way you can safely remove the expansion port and the cartridge port would still work.

you don't need to solder on the top and bottom of the board. Above and bellow the holes where the cartridge port go there are soldering points where you can solder wires to.

The points highlighted in green are the soldering points, while the spots highlighted in red are the holes.
Oh yeah, and moose jr.'s site has a good method for removing the expansion port.

You can still solder it to the green. This picture is of the top after you remover the cartridge port. The expansion port basically connects the pins from the cartridge port to the green area anyway.

ok now i understand only solder in the green.

1.Bend pins OUT

2.Solder wires to the pins

3. solder the other end to a hole in the GREEN areas(after the EXT port is removed.)

4. put in a Game

5.Play

did i get the steps right?

I started it that way but it was to hard for me to solder wires onto the board. Once I find some copper pins I'll extend my game port. I got the scsi and it's a lot easier espcially if you're bad at soldering. :D

Why not...

1. get perfboard
2. desolder cart slot
3. solder cart slot on perfboard
4. solder wires directly to perfboard/cart slot pins (not through-hole, but directly to pins/board)
5. hotglue pins/wires on perfboard in place
6. solder wires to corisponding N64 cart slot pins (again, not through-hole, but directly to board)
7. hotglue wires down on N64 board

That's what I did with my GBA X-Tender, that can make mounting the cart slot easier, as well (if perfboard has screw mounting holes).

I basically did all those steps vb_master, but I soldered the wires directly to the n64 cart. port instead of to a perf. board.
