AAAAUUUUGHHHH

Post by jjcastagna »

Nooo, I was testing the power connections on my SNES and with a 8V DC adapter I would get nothing when connecting to the original DC input. When I connected the positive cable to the 7805 I got video but no sound (I'm still using the original external AV to connect to the screen). So I decided I would give my new batteries a shot and got absolutely nothing.
But the worst part is that I think I might have fried somthing because now I don't get anything at all from the original SNES adapter or any other power source!!! My batteries are 7.2V Li-ion... Any ideas?

I think something may have happened when I tried connecting the batteries to the 7805. I'm hoping I didn't accidentally touch the wrong pin and bypass it... although that might be it :cry: . What do you think?

Yeah, I know but I hadn't soldered the cables yet I was just testing by contact (which is a terrible idea, I know). I've been testing the board with my multimeter and I think I blew a fuse (at least I think its a fuse). The tiny gray and white box right under the original power input that's labeled "1500" won't let any current pass... Anyone know about that thing?

I did try bypassing it... I couldn't stand the suspense... and IT WORKED! I just hope I won't fry anything else due to that missing fuse.

Ok, that said when I connect my power supply directly to the 7805 (+) and to the power input (-) my screen gets much brighter and I have no sound whatsoever. I'm still using the original external AV so I would have thought that that wouldn't be affected since I haven't even touched that yet. Any ideas?

I think I had the same problem as you jj. I have been unable to get video from my SNES with the original adapter and multi out. All I get is a steady red light and no video and no sound. Could you put a pic up of the fuse you had to bypass because i think i may have to do the same (unless if my board is fried).

This is it:
<img src="http://www.angatsac.com/test/board01.jpg"/>

But I do get video output, just brighter than when connecting with the original DC and no sound. I had the same problem before the fuse blew. Could it have something to do with the capacitors? I noticed the 2nd and 3rd from the bottom are connected to respectively L and R audio but that no current goes between them if the voltage is too low (I think). Would that be it? I'm using 7.2V but the original DC is at 10V.

Actually, I think I soldered my +7.2V on the wrong side of the 7805... which would explain the screen being brighter... is it left or right, I have it on the right side. However, I tried connecting my 7.2V to the left side and I get nothing, which is the same as when I connect my 7.2V to the original DC inputs. Is my voltage too low, anyone know what's going on?

Uh oh, now I've done it! My SNES is all screwed up. It won't work when I plug the original DC in and it actually turns on once in every 50 tries with my batteries. I must have screwed something up bad. HELP!

only thing i can figure is you accidentally bypassed the 7805, which isnt a bad thing if you were under 5.6v wich you werent, you might have overvolted it :( i cant be sure though
