Newbie seeking advice on portable systems

Post by Anthonyyy0 »

I was inspired by many people out there who have modded game systems into portable devices, which led me to this site. I'm a complete newbie at wiring/ electronics work (my dad may be able to help me get my project done, though) and i want to start small. I have a powerjoy 3 laying around from years ago, but the audio/video wire is cut a little. Could this be an easy project for me to make into a portable? Or should i just go strait into a nes portable? If not is there an even easier project for me to start out with? Thanks for any help you guys can give me.

Yeah, that'd be a pretty easy one to get started with. The PowerJoy III is actually a NES clone itself, called a NOAC (Nintendo on a chip) by these forums. Most of the recommendations to build a 'NES portable' actually mean using a NOAC like the one you have. Check out the guides and projects in the 'Nintendo 8-Bit' section.
