Rewiring a controller?

Rewiring a controller?
I have a limited understanding of wiring. I understand a lot, but I don't quite understand how to go about rewiring a controller onto a different board. The reason I am bringing this up, is I am thinking of taking the portable i'm working on, and essentially cutting the controller in half, and placing it on either side of what will be a frankencase holding the screen. I have absolutely no idea on how to do this. Anyone have any advice?
Re: Rewiring a controller?
Just reconnect the traces back to the main part of the board. (the section with the ic)
It's not hard at all if you know what trace soldering is.

I know what trace soldering is, but how is it done? I want to do this to make Project "Trinity."budnespid wrote:Just reconnect the traces back to the main part of the board. (the section with the ic)

CURRENTLY WORKING ON:
Project "Trinity"
So named because of its tripartite formfactor, this is basically a universal controller for PC, Mac, Linux, and a whole host of consoles including Xbox 360, all Sega, and all Nintendo consoles to date.

Well, just look and the board and see where the contacts go. Follow them and scratch off some of the board to expose copper and just solder to that instead of the original contact.
Pro-tip: use flux and it will make everything tons easier.
