Have you tested the chip with the RGB pins for voltage? If there is voltage, then theres some kind of signal there. If there is a signal, I would suggest trying to solder leads from the chip. I dont know how well you are with an iron, but i can tell you that soldering SOIC stuff is hard. Well, for me its easy, but I have over 15 years of experience. If you have to solder wires onto that chip and dont think you can do it, look for Vias on the board. They are little round dotty thngs that lead to the other side of the PCB. Take a small knife or screwdriver and lightly scrape it a little bit. There is usually a clear or green layer of protection over the tracks and Vias. If you scrape it off (which isnt hard, or dangerous) its a lot easier to get the leads to stick. This also applys for the tracks on the PCB as well...

Here is a ntsc to pal mod if it helps.

The lockout chip makes it so that only pal games can play on the pal systems. To bypass it you may be able to do this mod with a ntsc lockout chip instead.

It doesn't, it's just that the d/a video chip in the PAL n64 can't handle RGB. I don't think replacing it with a NTSC one would work either...

No, there is a way. It just requires internal knowledge of the n64's d/a converter and a FPGA. IIRC a german company does PAL RGB mods for the n64.

Old topic and the pics are gone now though. It seems to be from 1 of 2 companies, but neither have the mod on their website.
