How do you get CD to spin

Post by ignus »

hi, im experimenting with the idea of retransforming my old PSX, and i had it all apart and when i plugged it in and turned it on, it would just go to the Mem card/ CD player screen :( so i thought maybe i broke the CD player, so i reassembled the case and tried again, and it started playing CDs again. for the life of me, i can't find out what sort of switch would be involved in this process. is there something im missing? its a old PSX mfd in Jan 2000.

the lid switch doesnt seem to touch the disc mount in any way though, only possible contact i see is the middle spindle thing that holds the cd in place and spins it.

the lid switch is attached to the mainboard and has to be depressed for the cd drive to function correctly. you can just tape it down.
