video section

Post by jessemfp »

hello moderators. understand many people post things in the suggestion box
and many of them do not get what they ask for.
i am here today to post a very important quality not yet on the site
that i feel is just as important as any very great sections already
on the site made by are very intelligent moderators :D :D
to the moderator reading this i learn in various ways. how to videos
such as how cast and those on youtube, are usually the main sources
of my online research. not only does this incredible feature give me
a visual perspective of what i should be doing, a video more than ofte
erases the skepticsm i have about certain procedures, as seeing someone else do it
is proof. the following evidence of research proves this...

"Learning theorists have demonstrated that people vary in the manner in which they absorb, process, and recall what they are taught. Verbal learners, a group that constitutes about 30% of the general population, learn by hearing. They benefit from class lectures and from discussion of class materials in study groups or in oral presentations, but chafe at written assignments. Experiential learners - about 5% of the population - learn by doing and touching, and clinical work, role-playing exercises, and moot court are their best instructional modalities. Visual learners - the remaining 65% of the population - need to see what they are learning..."

We'd all love videos of how to make portables, but the simple answer is this: no one has the time or cares enough. We're lucky that Bacteria made his video log, and that Kasar wrote up that nice GCp guide, but we're a community driven forum.

As for a section that can be future filled with videos, I think the stickies need to be overhauled/rewritten (stickies are the posts "stickied" at the top of any subforum). If we design them like Modretro's "megastickies", I think they will be much more organized. Then we could just add a third post for videos, etc. Plus, a lot of the current stickies (at least from my experience) have many 404's etc.

So yes mods, we should add a video section. Get on it now!
