Making a gamecube modchip?

Is it possible to make a Gamecube modchip to play backups like this:

I'd rather make my own then buy one.

You can buy a XenoGC for like $5-10. Building your own isn't worth the time or effort.

Now for the Wii, it's a different story, but for the Gamecube, just buy one.
