Ben used the same concept for his Access controller. Dunno much about this though.

Well it could be used in a custom portable , but whats the point really? Once you have the controller parts where you want them you won't be wanting to change them. And it will make the portable bigger because you will need a lot more room to put the holders for the replaceable parts in the case.
Now if you wanted to JUST use the replaceable parts but mold them into the case, then that is more interesting. Because then you actually have less space needed because they are already in a nice round case ready to be mounted.
