PS1 Screen Pics/Scans Needed
I have a Verge Gamecube screen, and from what I have seen from the innards, it is the same as the PS1 Screen. Same shape, same loations of components, same "slot 1 slot 2" connections. It literally looks like Verge chopped up and modded some PS1 screens for this product. Can someone scan their PS1 screen for me and post it so I can compare? If the scans/pics are too big to post, you can use www.yousendit.com for the files.

dude ive quoted this like a million times actually 2 but just do everything the same as a psone screen
Maniac_Man wrote:jesus! these things are stupid!, if you see one of these and they are cheap get it, but if it isnt cheap get the psone screen, the verge on the inside is exactly like the psone screen except its modded a little bit. they took out a capictor and added a bunch, the normal pinouts are still there where the normal psone screen would use its 7.5v in and what not, but the morons who decided to build it modded the crap out of it and its not as great.
I just wanted to make sure my assumption was correct. I can tell that the screen has been modded somewhat. I dont know too much about the PS1 screen. Actually, the only thing I DONT know about it so far is the exact details to an LED mod (which I probabbly wont do cause I dont need to) and how much current the screen uses. I plan on doing a few fun-fun mods to the screen myself, like the VGA mod. Im not doing a Poratbe-Console specific project. Im just building a very modular portable screen. Ill hook it to my consoles, laptop, Video Recievers, DVD plays, and other fun crap of the like.
If someone could please, tell me the current coming off the power adapter of the PS1 Screen.

If I can get my hands on some White LEDs for a fair price, I might attempt it. Im confident I can pull off the mod, the only thing stopping me is my local elctronics shop, Radio Shack, is selling white LEDs for $5.30 USD each. Spending over $15 for something thats 1/5 the actual cost doesnt seem appealing. I have a new laptop with beefy batteries, I just might use them to compensate.
Plus, I have heard the the screen isnt as bright with the LED mod. Im 50/50 on weather I am going to do it yet.

not necessarily. The color of the LED does not depend on the color of the plastic. The plastic may be clear, but the light it puts out could be red.
Look at the description of the LED and make sure it says it puts out white light.

If you use bright LEDs it is brighter than with the CCFL. Check out the LEDs at Best HK.com. They have some great ultra-brights at low prices. Unfortunatly, most of them are in packages, but when you get 10 for $10 or 100 for $25, it is an awesome deal.

Yes, I want to ask what the Voltage and Current the power "pak" puts out. My screen is 7.5v @ 10W, so using Ohm's Law, I can tell the screen is ~750mA.
I have been trying to use Alkaline "C" batteries to power the screen. I get power, but no video. I have been using the standard 6 pin DIN socket on the screen itself to provide the video and power inputs (the screen detaches from the base). I just dont get video. I dont think I need to ground the pin on the "Slot 1" connection. Why would I if im using the same ports that the screens base uses? Im just hoping that I dont NEED the power inverter board from the base. It doesnt look liek it does anything to the video signal.
