design me a PC plox?

Post by samjc3 »

umm yeah! i need a pc. it doesnt need to be spectacular, just enough to play modern games at moderate or low settings. similar to harshboy's cheap beast, but my budget isnt quite that big. im looking at 5 or 600 to start, i think.
i dont need particularly big harddrives, or anything. i also dont need a monitor.

newegg lists and stuff like that are good.

This is a solid PC and comes in at a hair under $700, and has $95 worth of rebates, putting it around $600.

Never build a PC with "I want to play today's games on low" as the goal! If you do that, you're just going to waste money on something that's going to be antiquated in 2 years. Buy something good now and it will last longer.

What size is your existing monitor, and what is its maximum resolution?

Will you ever want to do SLI or Crossfire?

For a case, you can get the Antec 300 for $35 (after $20 MIR) on NewEgg if you order today or tomorrow (11/27). I know I did. 8) It doesn't have any glowing fans or CCFLs or any of that other ricer BS.

:oops: Heh, woops. Here you go: http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/Publi ... r=11474185" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

EDIT: @bic: This will play most games quite well at higher settings; anything in his budget of $500-600 should be able to do that.

You could knock some $$$ off it by doing what Bic suggested and grab the Antec 300 for its black friday price. But I know too many people that have a 900 and love it. :P

300 is a great case, I see no point in a 900 which costs a ton more for a budgeted build like this and provides what other features... a small window and a few blue LED fans? :roll:

Just get an antec 300... oh what's it called. They make an antec 300 with blue led fans, looks nice but it costs like $15 more I believe.

hmm. true. however, the thing is, my budget is pretty low, so i cant build one that will play todays games on high settings. :cry:

my monitor will either be a 22" HP w2207 or one of a few old 16-20 inch CRTs i have.

what are sli and crossfire even used for? :o :oops:

i like that case. however, i may just use one of several old ones i have on hand. :)

I believe SLI and crossfire are for having multiples of the same GPU to increase graphics performance. SLI being Nvidia, Crossfire being ATI.

Why pay more for a 300 that already comes with fans when you can get the one without fans, get the $20 rebate and basically get 2 $10 fans for free? :wink:

"plox" = Intarwebs for "please".

If you weren't a spambot you'd know that. :P

That should run things at 1024x1280 (my monitor res) at around 40fps maxed out. Mainly CoD4. I want it but I have no money.
