Did you read through that instructable?

don't listen to him. 4 AA batteries won't get you much playtime at all. Especially if you use a ps1 screen.

If you want batteries that would be good for a first timer, use nimh, or nicd. (I would go for nimh, personally)

but BEN and other portablizers used aa batteries and there are AA batteries that has 600 MAH each and also rechargeable

Well, lets do the math. The NES draws 650mA by its self. Add a screen and you have close to one amp. Lets say those batteries are exactly as advertised and they will never loose their charge each time you charge them. We are talking about maybe forty minutes of play time, that being the best case scenario. In my experience, rechargeable AAs got me maybe fifteen minutes. Don't use them.

Here is some of it.

One way to get an estimate of how long your batteries will last you is to take the mAh rating of your batteries divided by the told current draw of your system (in mA).

For example, if I were to have a battery with a rating of exactly 3200mAh (which it never is exactly as advertised) and a system that draws 1250mA, then I would take (3200/1250) which would give me about 2.5 hours from a full charge.

600 mah does not add up for each battery unless wired in paralell. So four aa batteries, which would power an nes, would still only get you 600 mah. but if you get four aa batteries and wire parralel, then you will get 2400 mah, but at only 1.5 volts.

AA = bad idea.
