Moving extending the reach of a PS3 fat or slim Blu ray driv

Does anyone know how to extend the reach of a PS3 blu ray drive? for example, remove it from the original assembly and place it somewhere else (in a case mod, specifically a pelican breif case). I saw on Ben's teardown of the new PS3 slim that the connecting cable is now much nicer 24 pin instead of a 70-something affair. Any advice?

hi there, if you mean the very thing cable , well it looks like a zip cable, they fit 1.8 inch hard drives, well thats what it looks like, just buy a long one of those to extend it, and for the other 4 wire cable, cut it, use more cable to extend then use some shrink wrapping to make it look nice.

just because it looks like a zip cable, doesnt mean it will fit.
get it measured first.
and, have you seen this?
you can probably do the same thing, albeit with different cables.

Get me a pic of the cable and I will tell you what parts to buy to extend it.
