voltage question

im looking for a batterie pack for my portable. my screen needs 7.5v and the console needs 8.5v, if i can get a 10v-8v batterie pack do i need something to tone down the current going to my screen? im saying 10v-8v because i know as the batteries life drains the voltage goes down slowely. Maybe even a 9v-8v if im lucky.

What portable are you making that it needs 8.5v?

I believe that a battery that has more than 8.4v will fry the screen unless it is a regulator dropping the voltage down to 8.4v.
