Well i have been researching these forums and Forums across the internet about Xbox360 Laptops
and what components are used and how.
well right now i have a xbx 360 sitting on a Nike shoe box
DVD drive under it. just some simple test.
i know a lot of the senior members here are probably thinking
"here we go again... another one"
well i am confident that i will finish this, and no other forum is Suitable for this kind od work except for the idea's origin.
right now.. on my project i am stuck on how to set everything in My case.
i have been working on paint (windows 7 paint) and ive Designed many designs on how the airflow will go and what goes where.
but for me to figure out how i want to situate the components. i ahve to have the case first hand..
and thats another step...
i ahve been trying to figure out a way to create my own case.
This is what i came up with.
Fiber glass and bondo.
i can get fiber glass Casting from a hospital i work at.
and buying bondo isnt hard.
and this laptop Case is gonna be with out a Keyboard. dont see why i would need one since i have a Chat pad.
and got a question.. do you think Replacing The CPU heatsink With another GPU heat sink with a Fan mounted on top will Keep it cool enough from over heating?
and before many of you say " do you have experience" yes i do but not hard modding as this but i have knowledge of electronics.
xbx360 lptp
(HP Mini speakers)
xbox 360 (xenon Mobo)
Had a 20gb hdd (gonna buy a 120gb or 60gb)
DVD Drive Cables have been extended
Soldered eject button and (2) 12v Fans one is from the original xbx and pushes a lot of air on the GPU
other is blowing air through the CPU heat Sink
and a 350watt ATX PSU (external of course)
(need to buy)
screen 17" or 19" (both Practically Same price)
possibly find a compatible Heat sink for CPU (low profile one)
Like the thread says any help is Appreciated.
thank you

You didn't really ask a question... it was more a buildlog than a question thread.
Just because nobody responded immediately does not mean the forum is "unfriendly and unhelpful," as you stated. What did you want - a how-to on making XBox 360 laptops? There isn't one.
If you have a specific question, ask it. We're glad to help. But don't expect hand-holding.

First off welcome. I'm sort of a new guy myself....long time lurker...just recently signed up.super6mix wrote: and got a question.. do you think Replacing The CPU heatsink With another GPU heat sink with a Fan mounted on top will Keep it cool enough from over heating?

If you are going to ask questions it's probably best to place them in an area where it is quick for one to read and not buried within your post note.
As for this question I believe your answer is yes, no, and maybe (I hope to find out soon myself).
Yes- A fan on the CPU with the air being pushed away from the device should keep it cool. When you fix RRoDs you do this.
No- A stock GPU sink will not fit in the place of the CPU heat sink with out moving the caps AND grinding down at least three of the "fins" of the heat sink. Unless of course it is possible to move the "half-moon wrapped in copper" <--I believe they are coils. If you can then it will fit. I just grinded down my GPU heat sink to fit.
Maybe- depends on air flow. Without the stock fan sitting on my CPU fan pushing the hot air from it...the console would red ring in about 10 sec. In my tests the fan has run flawless for the 10 mins I was messing with it. However in my case it is open...so when I put the plexi down things might be different. Air flow is definitely the key though.
Good luck.
