is the metal shroud hot?

Includes but not limited to: SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, PlayStation 1, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, Game Gear and I guess the Virtual Boy.

i was disassembling my N64 and noticed that the metal around the cartridge socket is connected to the motherboard, along with the memory socket on both the controller and the motherboard. are these live? would not connecting them correctly or at all destroy my system? please help

This joke is second only to the U.A. Xbox vortex thing! This was too good for a regular ""!

Seriously, as long as everything makes a complete circuit there should be no problems. By contrast, as long as nothing makes a short-circuit then there should be no problems.[/img]

WOW! This is like a giant metaphorical pun. Now for the metaphor that I wrote in english just before my teacher took my paper and read it to the entire class: I am a TV, turn me on and I will give you a show. And a better one that I just thought of: I am an N64, put my plug in the socket, and I will entertain you all night  .

Yea, back on topic. I think that the shrouding is connected to ground, and is basically like RF shielding.
