This is getting old. Every time a newbie comes here and asks questions that have been answered long ago, everyone gripes at them and tells them to use the search, etc. They aren't going to stop, so quit complaining about it! If you don't want to answer the same questions for the millionth time, you don't have to- just don't post anything.

Well why don't you come up with a general FAQ for this forum, and get it stickied, so not all the newbies come in with the same questions... Instead of just sitting there and complaining you could do something about it.goodie wrote:This is getting old. You can't use the LED mod on the GBA, because of the reflective backing (or so I'm told.) However, there is the afterburner lighting mod...

since nobody decided toreply to my thread on it, could i use the aluminum backing on the Mobo to make a cartridge slot mount? i want to make the cartridge parallel to the board like a gameboy, and since that plate was already drilled for the holes...

1. NiMh are popular. Li-ion are good if you want lightweight, but has some recharge difficulties.MariomanDS wrote:I've been in the desineing stage for a portable N64 for a whille but I need some help:

2. No, and to answer your future question, the Gamegear cant be used either
3. No, you have to do other methods.

my cartridge slot wasn't soldered to anything, it was connected to the expansion socket beneath the motherboard, i disassembled the expansion socket (remove metal covering (i ended up snipping the connection to the motherboard), slide off the black plastic, then pull out the pins with pliers with a soldering iron melting the solder holding them in).*o* wrote:thats the same as im doing![]()

yay someone can help me...
What are you using to relocate your cartridge slot?
i used my trusty dremel with a cut-off disk to take down those two posts on either side of the socket (i'll need it flush to attach to the aluminum), i then soldered each of the pins on the socket to about 4" of solid core copper wire (you might need more, depending on where you are putting the cart. slot), then connect those to the mobo. this works great because the aluminum plate has a hole where the expansion socket stuck out, making a nice way to route wires to the socket.
if you do not have a dremel, buy one now! if you cannot afford one, steal one now!
if i had a digicam and knew how to link photos from yahoo (it says i get unlimited hosting!!!) i would do a step by step
