It's been out for a little while.
This isn't April Fools or anything.
It does work, etc etc.

Right now, I am only hearing that you can back up discs to it, not download ISOs.
I know I sound like a pirate, but for a wii laptop without a disc drive, that would be a real bummer.
Thanks for the guide!

What's stopping you from backing up discs on a wii at home, and then sticking the USB drive in the drive-less Wiitop?palmertech wrote:Right now, I am only hearing that you can back up discs to it, not download ISOs.

Hmm... That would work!
I could probably sell on ebay, too, as it would only play legal backups of games they own.

Rent games -or- use a chipped Wii to load up your collection -or- use wbfm to load ISOs off of your computer.
Hardly difficult for any pirate.

Re: Load Wii ISOs off any USB storage device!
I have 4 games on my flash drive currently and its working perfect.
I want to see someone mod a HDD into the case. I was thinking all you'd have to do is get a laptop hard drive, take out the Wii DVD drive (because you can use a computer to load the games too), and put the hard drive in place of the disk drive.
I'm considering getting this external hard drive.
I could always just crack that open and use the hard drive and usb adapter inside of it and put it into the wii case. I would just drill a hole out the back to connect the cable.
I wonder when Gamecube support will be added.

You know there's an unused internal portHarshboy wrote:I would just drill a hole out the back to connect the cable.

Haven't opened my Wii yet so I wouldn't know that (yet, of course).jleemero wrote:You know there's an unused internal portHarshboy wrote:I would just drill a hole out the back to connect the cable.
I was reading up and apparently the USB Loader refuses to work without the DVD Drive (or the board at least). I'm thinking this is probably similar to the Xbox where the Wii doesn't like being without its DVD Drive. I don't know how the USB Loader works either, it may be copying code to the board for streaming purposes which would require the Wii Drive board.
Oh well, I still need to get a big external hard drive. This is sweet.
All I know is Majora's Mask is out on VC and I got the NTSC version injected into the PAL release and its working great. I'm gonna go back to playing that now, time to finish up the Snowhead area.

If it needs a drive to work, then maybe my flatmii is not useless after all!
If nothing else, I can use it to "load" ISOs from my computer, then "rip" them using this tool.
