Anyone else having restrictive NAT with NXE?
Ever since the NXE came out for the 360, I can't forward ports anymore, I've tried all kinds of combinations and forwarded 88 and 3047 separately and together, I've also put it to udp or tcp seeing if that would do anything but no luck. I've read everything that has to do with 360 on portforward.com, but nothing has helped. This worked fine until the update came out. I've also tried all sorts of different ips and the dns server should be fine, but I'm constantly getting lag. I know it's not my network because I've got 500kb broadband.
I have WRT160N linksys router. And the 360 is running on a wired connection too, so nobody mention wireless is the problem, even though it has nothing to do with NAT.

Well on Halo 3 it says I have a closed NAT all the time and it did start when NXE came out.
However, I still get into games just as fast and everything works like before. The only thing annoying about it is the little message that pops up everything saying my NAT will cause problems.
My Ports are forwarded too, btw. My router is a Linksys WRT54GS running dd-wrt micro. I'm also using a wired connection.

Re: Anyone else having restrictive NAT with NXE?
I could never get those routers to forward ports for me, never worked. And each one died in about 4 months, so now I have 3 broken ones, and one of them is stripped down for parts. It seems to take longer now to find games in halo, and there's lag sometimes in halo wars. It's not that annoying but I don't want to wait 10 minutes to find a match. I guess nobody knows the new ports.

Set the console under DMZ? It will forward all unused ports to it.

It's an acronym for De-Militarized Zone. In networking terms, it's a subnet that uses the same gateway to get out to the Internet, but isn't connected to the rest of the network, and usually has no security measures. This way everything can get in and out, but if a computer on it gets infected it can't spread to the rest of your machines.

Ooops! I meant DMZ Host.
On DD-WRT v24 micro, go to NAT/QoS tab, then DMZ, then enable it then type the LAN IP of the console then hit apply.
I have DMZ Host set on my PS3 and my NAT Type is 2 (All req'd ports open). You could try setting it on the 360.Wikipedia wrote:Some home routers refer to a DMZ host. A home router DMZ host is a host on the internal network that has all ports exposed, except those ports forwarded otherwise. Link

Re: Anyone else having restrictive NAT with NXE?
I suppose I'll have to do dmz since nothing else is working for forwarding ports. I know that nobody can hack an xbox through the net, but will any other devices like computers be affected if I use a dmz, I have a password on my wireless, so I don't think I will get any hackers. Although I don't know much about this magic DMZ of which you speak. But still, it takes 10 mins to ind a match. So if the xbox is the only thing using it, am I safe?
Re: Anyone else having restrictive NAT with NXE?
Only one device can be assigned with DMZ and each and every vacant port you have will get auto-forwarded to it.
I don't know if you can hack a console.

I was wondering if they could somehow get some kind of ip on me and access my local systems. Oh well I think I'll be fine, Now I'll just have to figure out how to do it on my router.

Like I said, the DMZ is generally a separate subnet from the rest of your network. Your Xbox would be isolated and only able to connect to the Internet, so anyone with malicious intentions couldn't use it to get to your other computers. That's the whole point of the DMZ.thewise1 wrote:I was wondering if they could somehow get some kind of ip on me and access my local systems. Dang, it still doesn't work, and if DMZ doesn't work which is pretty much every port, I either configured dmz wrong, or my xbox just sux.
