Show off your Portables!

Post by benheck »

Not sure how many people have completed these projects yet but we should use this forum to show the pictures of things they've done.

So go for it!

Should have a lot done by next Sunday. Oh yeah Ben.... should my screen riser look like this? I think it was broken during shipping, it's just a riser like the speaker so I can probably just glue them in place.

wait, is this just a thread to show off portables built from the book? or can it be other portable?

just curious ;)........(I've got a good number of portables to show off, although I'll probably wait 'till I finish my SNESp to do it ;)....perhaps I should just make a damn website already :))
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

i built this blog to show my progress

http://www.xanga.com/satan165

ive been held up for a while because i cleaned out the local radio shack
i need to order a couple more components as well as to get a PS controller

i have the CNC case from ben, and as you can see the 4-switch is already partially hacked apart
put it on hold to tie up a few other loose ends so i can concentrate on things

Here's my SNESp Mk. II:

not sure how to get the actual photos in this post, but anyways, just click the link.

The controller needs some tweaking and the screen keeps getting dark after about 30 mins. but otherwise it's a blast to play!
If all else fails, take it apart!

My PSXp

Post by b_ski30 »

Well, here's what I've done so far...

http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/b_ski22/a ... /my_photos

I'm sure a lot of people will not like they way I'm doing this, but hey, it will do everything I want it to.

Of course it's not done yet, I still have to do some wiring, create an external case for the powersouce which i will route the power to the psxp through ethernet wiring. Also I need to drill holes for and mount the speakers, and I need to internalize the memory card reader and controller ports.

Now, if youre still reading, here is why I did it this way...
I have a psone, but chose to use my psx for a number of reasons the first being that i have a plug-in mod already for my psx. Also that port has support for and mp3 plugin and a vcd player plugin. The other advantage is that it was tremendously easy to mount in the square computer cdrom case. A couple of other key points about my design is that the second controller port allows use of a multitap, and I can still hook it up to the tv.
Which is nice. Plus I have several power inverters laying around, and all I want this for is in the car.

Looks good. The LAN cable for power sounds cool (untill you accedently stick the wrong LAN cable in your computer, and shoot your Ethernet card with some unwanted power juice).

Yes, it's a CD drive.

I'm thinking of a PSoneP, since I bought an Intec screen today... :? hmmm...
