portable with games saved on sd card instead of cartridge

alright so i've been fallowing along on a lot of builds for snes nes and n64 with cartridge still used and i was wondering if you could build a portable that ran of say an sd card or some other solid state memory ??

and also i only did about 45 minutes of looking around the forums so if ive missed exactly what i just asked please link me to it and sorry for wasteing your time :)

Actually you can its called a DS
And a Gameboy

Thats part of the problem. You need to read the stickies and gain a basic understanding of how electronics work. If you had spent 15 minutes researching how an Sd card works and how a Cartridge works you would have answered your own question.

It won't work because the systems are not designed to receive data from SD cards.
