Cartridge Casemod - SNES board into NES cartridge - help?

Hey guys,

For reasons I don't want to get into here, i'm modding a Super Game Boy to fit into an old NES cartridge. Obviously I need to cut a slot of the GB game to meet the connector, but what i'm worried most about is securing the circuit board within the cartridge, so it can be pulled in and out of the SNES without dislocating or damaging the circuit board. I don't want to hot glue the board in place, but rather hold it in place with notches or walls.

How can I create and attach such walls to the inside of the NES cartridge?

Thin plastic, like the sides of the cart case itself can be cut to size and super-glued into place. You could use 5-minute epoxy as well, but I don't think you'd need that kind of bond. The walls will just be holding the circuitboard in place, not bearing stress.

I've done similar things with blocks of plexiglass. Even wood, if it's easier for you to get and cut.

They will bear a little stress, when the cartridge is inserted or removed from the system - the walls will need to be able to pull the circuit board and the plastic together, without giving way. Do you think super-glue is strong enough for that?

Yeah, you're right, they will bear some stress, but I really think the super glue will hold just fine. As long as you use enough plastic that the board doesn't move, all that stress will be distributed, and no one point's going to bear too much. If I was doing this personally, I'd be fine using super glue. After all, those very thin walls inside the cart hold up just fine.
