Is my hip screen usable?

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

Is my hip screen usable?

Post by Goodwin »

I have a hip screen which was installed in my xbox, ran ok when I had it powered but sometimes looped (resolve that another time).

The other week I opened up my xbox to do some cable management, got all the cables running nice and powered up the xbox! a BANG came from the box and I pulled out the power, the motherboard had been fried. The hip pad wasnt on at the time nor was the molex which I used to power the screen attached.

The question is what is the best way of testing my screen? I have a new xbox motherboard working and would rather leave it as until I can test the screen on another system unless someone on here can give me info that the xbox would be safe.

I have a few graphics cards for PC's and a PSOne available, please could someone let me know a safe way to test the screen.

Thanks

Goodwin.

Hook it up to the psone. And about the screen, its more likely you did something to the xbox rather than the screen. You could have connected two points or droped something that did. Thats why Id say theres no problem with hookin it up to the psone. :)

Is there anyway of repairing the orange plastic cable? the one on my hip screen has cracked where it has been in the cupboard for a few months.

Can the traces be followed or can I get a replacement cable?
