WII arcade style controller question

ive really only taken apart older systems and was wandering if the newer system still use some of the same technology. i want a nintendo 64 arcade style controller and thought id use a Wii version to convert it(since it has 8 buttons and is flat). do the newer systems still use the same "mushy" rubber contact points? or are they converted to tact switches or sumthin?

First IF your doing this for smash bros it won't work...It has to recognize a digital analog. Also I think its more push switch mabye
