Moving the cart slot

Post by superdeformed »

As the topic says, I'm attempting to move the cartridge slot on the n64 board. I'm not removing the expansion port as doing so wont save any space really. I looked through the topics already around on moving the cart slot, but didn't see anything on this so...what are the small pads around the edges of the cartridge slot assembly (the ones that connect when it's plugged into the board)? Most of them appear to be going to ground, but after reading other posts and seeing pictures, nobody seems to connect them. Do they need to be connected, and if not, why are they there o.O?

Ah. So do they not need to be connected if its moved away from the board then? Or would it still help?

Alright, thanks :D. Just wanted to be sure, as I don't really want to spend money on another N64 because I left something important unconnected.

I'd suggest removing the Extension Port anyways, because if you are moving the cart slot, it is easier to tie the pins to the outside holes. You also get an extra cart slot.

Just a thought :D .

I've since given up on that after screwing up the slot :\. Not entirely sure what happened, but my guess is that some of the pins in the slot were ruined, as it wouldn't load battery saves from a game (which was also tested on a normal n64). It won't make too much of a difference in the end really, the cartridge will just stick out horizontally instead of straight up.

Thats why, it only has Windows script detection.

I don't think so, it's done that to me on Linux in the past.

Could just be that Jack's system has script blocking which screws it up.
