PSone screen question *Noob* (be gentle)

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

PSone screen question *Noob* (be gentle)

Post by opadave2000 »

I'm not new to hardware hacking - I mod everything I get, but I am new to the forum. Now the question - I built a straight thru cable from my PStwo to the PSone screen (12 pin to 12pin). Instead of a nice sharp RGB screen it's almost completely governed by GREEN.
Suggestions? Accusations? Rebuttals? I'm probably missing something.....

Yeah, that's a built in sony security feature. It can be fixed with a modchip, or maybe by building a custom circuit to limit the green tint.

Thx, Gannon. seems odd that they would protect the video output ???
I would take it that the composite would be okay?
BTW, the screen is as yet unmodded. Straight to the controller board maybe?

Couldn't you just put the 220uF capacitors on the blue and red lines, BUT not on the green to reduce the green? If not... HACK IT!

Wasnt there a post about putting capacitors on the green line and that was a fix? Well you can always try it out not like its going to be permentint.

Now that you mention it I think I saw that somewhere but it had to do with the VGA mod. Well, I've got a bag 'o' caps in the garage so I'll let you know.

I got hold of one of the 4 band A/V plugs and built a cable - composite video looks great. Anybody tried the s-video out on the pstwo/psone
from the a/v output - think I will.
