Today I spent about three hours relocating my N64's cart slot with a stripped IDE cable. I checked all my connections and tried a game. No Dice. Had my Dad take a look at it, he said it was fine. The system seems to start up, the small led lights up, and the screen flashes a bit.
First question: Is the jumper pack in? (stupid question, but many people forget about it)
also, did you solder into the holes where the pins of the cart used to be, or did you solder to the traces above and bellow the holes where the exp. port pins connect to?
Would desoldering the wires connected to the board and soldering them in again, only deeper, work? I tried desoldering off the Ext. slot but that crud wouldn't melt.
Good, I guess I'll work on it tomorrow then. I really want to get this thing done by mid-may seeing as I have a three day trip and it would just be awesome to have this. But if I don't get into top gear I won't be done.
UPDATE - Well, my dad tried to surprise me. He desoldered all my wires connected to the board and soldered them to the ones next to the other pins.
When you lift up the cart port there are four lines. I soldered them into the two rows in the middle. Now he soldered them to the points on the top row and bottom.
EDIT IDIOT ALERT NOTHING TO SEE HERE OR BETTER YET HEAR CUZ' IM AN IDOT...IDIOT
