Help with portable nes
OK, I am attempting the handbuilt portable nes in Ben's book. I am pretty good with electronics and am 98% finished. I am having a problem though that I can't figure out. I'll use Ben's book to layout the problem. Basically I am supposed to be getting +7.5 volts to screen ( letter Z on page 159). When tested with a multimeter, I am only getting around +3.4 volts, and if I remove the ground I am using off Ground to Screen/Nes (Y), I get around +6.3 volts. I am getting the proper + 9.6 volts at the Unregulated Power In location (X). Somewhere I am losing voltage before I get to Z, or +7.5 volts Screen. I have checked and rechecked my wiring w/o finding anything. Any ideas?

I appreciate the suggestions. Well, as far as the baattery goes, I have the wall adaptor plugged into the unit and the battery also connected. I tested the battery, at it's at the 9.6 volts, so fine there. As far as the caps, I am using the 1uf 50v which I basically had to really look at one of the photographs to see exactly what one to use, because page 158 say's only 1 UF capacitor. Also, the round orange cap is a .1uf. This too I didn't know the exact one as all it say's is .1 uf. The pic shows 104M stamped on it, and I had those, so I used one. What exactly do the little round orange caps do?
