FYI - eBay is removing Super Joy III Listings
In case you haven't noticed, over the past 48 hours or so, eBay has deleted every Famiclone auction bundled with a game cart.
I managed to snag one with "Buy It Now" earlier this afternoon, but I was just served notice that the auction has been terminated, and they waited until after I'd already paid. Guess we'll see if I receive my item or not... Now that he has my money, with no negative feedback to worry about. Be warned.

But see, that's the thing. With all the listings deleted, you have no record of who was selling them unless you have their names memorized.peppers wrote:you could try getting if tiuch with some of the people from these I bet they wil be willing to sell them useing differint means
And then there's the threat of them just taking your money and not producing anything - especially when dealing with cheap japanese import stuff.
All I'm saying is to be careful from here on out. Maybe consider using member directories like Heatware to evaluate people or something.

You should've gotten an e-mail when you did the Buy-it-Now that at least had the info of the one you won.
And PayPal already has put new rules in effect that state if you pay for "multiple game cartridges or systems" with it, you may be subject to a $500 fine and/or freezing of your account. Not good.

This is so stupid.Paypal Acceptable Use Policy wrote:Games Software: Sony, Sega and Nintendo Policy
According to Sony, Sega, and Nintendo, the following items are potentially infringing, putting both the seller and the buyer at risk:
Backup and/or Unreleased Games
You may not use PayPal to sell backup copies of software, including games software. Here are some ways to recognize backup copies:
* Games which require a mod chip or other special hardware to play. Backup copies, which cannot legally be sold separately, will require such hardware to play. Original games NEVER require mod chips to play
* Games referred to as "silver" or "gold" copies. Backup copies are frequently sold using these terms. Silver colored CDs are characteristic of mass-produced, potentially infringed copies, which are frequently produced outside of the US. These are sometimes called HK, Hong Kong, or import versions
* Multiple games on one CD, especially "choice" compilations. In most cases, manufacturers only offer one game per CD. If you are offered a choice of several games on one CD, these games could be backup copies
Pre-release, Promotional and/or Beta games
You may not use PayPal to sell beta copies of software, including games software. Selling or buying games that have been acquired prior to the manufacturer's release to the public may be a copyright infringement.
Mod chips, Modified Game Consoles and Game Enhancers
You may not use PayPal to sell any device capable of permitting the play of pirated and/or imported games on a domestic system. Examples of such devices include:
* Mod chips and/or game consoles that have a mod chip-type device installed
* Game enhancers (which enable the play of import software and/or back up versions of software)
* Boot discs
Game Copying Hardware/Software
You may not use PayPal to sell hardware or software designed specifically to produce unauthorized copies of games.
Important Notes
1. Encouraging the use of any device described in the above rules may be an infringement
2. You may still be liable even if you offer to sell your "time" and/or services and give away for "free" (rather than sell) a prohibited, questionable, or infringing item. This applies to both seller and buyer
Manufacturer-Related Polices
Sony:
Authentic games by Sony are always black on the bottom. Sony uses a proprietary technology that produces games with this unique design. If a Sony game is sold with a different color CD, it is a backup copy. (Note: Original import versions are fine, but they will not be the silver or gold variety). Devices that allow the play of import games on a domestic system are potentially infringing upon Sony's (SCEA) copyrights.
Nintendo:
* All Nintendo games are on cartridges and very few have been released with multiple games on one cartridge
* Any version of a Nintendo game that is not on a cartridge is an infringing copy
* Software emulators that play Nintendo games without Nintendo hardware are infringing items
* "ROM" is a tip-off term for infringing copies of Nintendo games (usually on CD or Disks)
Sega:
The sale of imported Dreamcast software and hardware may infringe on Sega's copyrights and/or trademark. Sega sells these Asian versions outside of the US, and pursuant to 17 USC section 602, the subsequent importation and sale of these goods in the US (without Sega's permission) infringes upon Sega's copyrights.
Devices that allow the play of import games on a domestic system are infringing upon Sega's copyrights.
Oh well, I guess I'll just have to buy stuff with checks now. Now it'll take even longer to get my stuff.
EDIT: I just realized it says you can't use Paypal to SELL these things. Nowhere does it say you can't buy them. So hopefully, if Paypal thinks an item is illegal, then they will fine the seller and not us, the innocent buyers.

Why is it stupid when a company gets angry about software copying?
Why is everybody hating on Nintendo for protecting something that is legally theirs? Has the concept of right and wrong gone down the toilet?
I don't understand.
Most of the copied games on Super Joy 3's etc. have been screwed up by the pirating company. When people see the poor quality of these games, they confuse them with being the real Nintendo version. This is why the big N is after these people. It gives them a bad reputation. Even though the games are over 17 years old, many people still play and enjoy them.
Another parallel is if you have ever gone to New York, you can buy a "Rolex" on the street for 10 bucks. These illegal copies will often fall apart after a few days. The real Rolex corporation closely persues and shuts down these suppliers frequently. They do this because these cheap rip-offs damage their image as a company.
The same thing applies to video game companies. They are not doing this
just to piss off tinkerers like us; it is their reputation that is in danger.

If all else fails, take it apart!
I didn't say you hated them; I have just seen it said in other parts of the forum.
Also, in order to get the NOAC, you HAVE to buy it with the built-in crappy games. If they sold it by itself, (why not I don't know) they probably would get no flack at all.
I was just stating my point, not blaming anyone.

I found this quite funny:

EDIT: Oh yeah, I believe there are some rare Superjoys that don't have any built in games. I wish they were easier to find...
Hmm, I guess every Gamecube game ever made is illegal then. Either that or Paypal needs to get their facts straight.Paypal Acceptable Use Policy wrote: Any version of a Nintendo game that is not on a cartridge is an infringing copy

Personally, I enjoy the pirated games. They're a convenient way to play a couple old favorites, and the mangled translations are good for a laugh.
But I definitely see their logic in squashing them. I just wish that I didn't have to suffer because some morons can't tell the difference between "Super Mario Brothers" and "Ultra Plumber Twins."
