If you want to make a bunch of projects that tell you to "connect rod A to socket C," then buy his book. Personally, I think it has some good tips in it, though. I learned some hot glue tricks from there. If you're looking for a solution that is 35 dollars cheaper than that, look around the forums and give what you want a shot.

Also check Portables of DOOM! for some good info. But yeah, just spend some time here, follow the rules, and READ THE STICKIES!!! They are the portablizing laws 'round these here parts! :)
