Case Skins

Yes it is nice to be able to put your projects INSIDE something isn't it? You know, to hold everything together so it doesn't flop around? Discuss the techniques here!

Case Skins

Post by chanticlair281 »

So, it has been a while since I painted anything with decent results and I did not want my first portable to be a horrible joke due to the lack of paint skills. So I decided that I would make a case that uses skins instead of paint. I have not seen this on the boards but admittedly I did not look too hard. I thought this to be an original idea but it seems everytime I start work on an original idea I see it posted on here about half way through making it. This is my first portable. It is not 100% done in the fact that there is more that I want to do to it, but it is playable and it is 100% functional. Enough chat on with the pictures!

I will be building the controller into the case at a later date.

I am going to put a cart slot on. I had difficulty with the first one that I wired up so I removed it to be completed at a later date.

So, what do you think of the skin Idea? The case is a 2 casette tape holder. I think you could do the same with a DVD Case but it would be bigger. This case is slightly longer than a nes cart and just a hair more narrow on the width.

Looks good. Great for a first portable.

What I would do if I was making skins, however, is use hard plastic instead of the DVD plastic or whatever (you know what I mean).

But I do think you're the first to try this idea. Good job.
Hey, sup?

Nice, very original. I personally prefer a nice paint job, but this is definitely a good, clean, quick fix; hell, if you could find a really nice image to use, I may even take it over paint!
