Yes it is nice to be able to put your projects INSIDE something isn't it? You know, to hold everything together so it doesn't flop around? Discuss the techniques here!
I was at home, twiddling my thumbs, waiting for my food to finish cooking, when all of a sudden I decided to make a concept model for a Game Boy Color. The idea was a Gameboy that looked like the SP, but where the screen could be pushed into the body of the system.

I'm probably not even gonna attempt making this, but I think it just looks swell.
I applaud the design, and hope it works out for whoever tries it. It looks pretty slick actually... Hmm, if I'm bored I may even try the design, doubt I'll go through with it either, but hey, good job, looks great.
sweet concept, why don't you attempt it? it seems very feasible and if you have minor electronic knowhow( you might just need mechanical since this is a case) anyway, this looks good and welcome to the forums!

krepticor, you also have to look at the fact that, in such a design, the wires would be under a lot of stress from going in-out-in-out a lot. After a while, it would wear out. This does not plauge clamshell designs as much since, if connected through the hinge area, the open position requires just as much length as the closed one.
you just take the wires and have them at the top where the screen comes out, then take enough wire so that it "horse shoes" downward
that way where the wires go up they go and there is a slight amount of movement, the point is this is a sweet concept and would be well worth its effort for the recognitionof the build

Of course, if you want to be really hardcore you could replace wires with some sort of metal strips that the screen part slides on that act as wires but with less stress. I'm thinking the same concept as cartridges but longer and sturdier.
Getting a tan while everyone else is in a blizzard... >.<
well i was gonna sell it to gamestop, i think they give like 30 i would gladly take 25 or so, works perfect, gotta find screws again and its missing the start button, its blue too

DANGIT! STOP STEALING MY IDEAS! Well, I'm attempting this with a gba.
I had actually thought of the screen thing before too. My idea was to use parts from a laptop CD/DVD drive (ya know, because you push the button and it pops out, when your done you slide it back in) just becase that sounded like more fun than my original idea of making it motorized. I probably wont try it, but it would be nice to see a portable with a "Slider Screen".(Dibs on 'slider screen" lol)
